To our members, employers, and other stakeholders,
To say there’s a lot happening in our world right now would be an understatement. It is clear that this pandemic has significantly impacted our members and employers, and by extension, our staff. It is with this in mind that we’re announcing an extra issue of our annual PensionCheck newsletter—a BonusCheck, if you will—to update all of our stakeholders in these extraordinary times. In this release you’ll find resources and information for members impacted by COVID-19, details regarding FPPA’s 2020 legislation and the resulting rule changes in 2021, and more.
I also wanted to take a moment to thank our members for their bravery and sacrifice during this time. Your efforts to protect the public and assist your fellow citizens is appreciated in ways that cannot be fully expressed. Rest assured that your benefits are safe, and we are working hard to ensure that operations continue as usual.
FPPA transitioned our entire staff to work remotely in mid-March. Thanks to an incredible effort by our operations and IT staff, business operations continue as usual, if not just a bit different. Currently we plan to keep our offices closed until at least April 30th. Until we physically reopen, please know that we remain able to assist at full capacity by phone, email or videoconference.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that FPPA’s legislation for the 2020 session, HB20-1044, was recently signed into law by the Governor. The resulting statute changes will strengthen FPPA’s plans and ensure greater retirement security for our members.
Linked here, please find our most recent articles and resources in our first ever BonusCheck newsletter. Should you have any questions or need assistance, our staff is ready to help.
Stay healthy. Stay safe.
